Jun. 21 - Half-Life 2: Episode 1: The Phantom Gordon
Episode 1 is on sale at Best Buy this week so I bought it. It's gotten great reviews so I thought for 15 clams I couldn't lose. I must admit that I haven't finished it but so far it is incredibly frustrating. Most of the puzzles have succeeded in pissing me off. One puzzle made me reload so many times that I quit the game only to come back the next day and still have to reload about twenty times before getting past it. This isn't me dying in combat. This isn't me not knowing what to do. This is just a frustrating puzzle that kills you if you don't get it right.
Alyx joins you once again and I have to say that her character rules. She's very well-acted both vocally and physically in the game. She has rarely left my side (or rather, I have barely left hers; she seems to be the main character so far) which has provided the exposition necessary to advance the story. However, and this is a purely personal preference, I don't like to baby-sit in shooters. Alyx is extremely smart and I have noticed her navigate some complex paths to catch up to me while shooting enemies. To me Gordon's a loner and I really don't like having to rely on my sidekick to open every door for me. It's OK in spurts but turn me loose, already.
For better or worse I'll keep you updated as I keep playing.
Current opinion: frustrating
Jun. 19 - Joining in on the fun.
good to see everyone posting. Pat, we have some issues we need to work out with user icons so i'll talk to you tomorrow hopefully... or more accurately later today especially in germany where it is infact day now.
as long as im here i might as well post another pic.

this is my experiment with a drawing imported into photoshop then into illustrator, then back to photoshop then finally into alias sketch book pro. (the original was infact a stick figure drawn in crayon)
im thinking about printing it out and coloring it with india ink.
thinking of my artwork, i failed my sophomore portfolio review and the university of St Francis failed to tell me why.
partly for that, and mostly for not letting me take any classes i want and generally being dicks to me let me just say...
Fuck you St. Francis.
Jun. 18 - Oh the Irony!
The last person to post something is the writer. I think this should tell you something: writers are lazy. Well, that's not entirely accurate. I am lazy. There we go.
Actually, truth be told, I just haven't gotten around to it. We just bought a house and I'm still cooped up in this apartment sleeping on the pullout until all of our shit arrives on the 26th. But enough about me, let's talk about more pleasant things.
It was Colin's birthday on the 10th. Everyone wish him a happy birthday. He is now 20 years old which allows him to do nothing. Absolutely nothing. Can't drink. Can't rent a car. Can't sell blacktar heroin to orphans. Nothing. He'll be receiving something in the mail from me, but don't tell him. It's a surprise.
In other news, I am currently working on a film project for Trinity University. It will be a humorous/informative (a term I call "informerous") video about the Internet security, spyware, Facebook, Myspace, Viruses, and why you shouldn't drink sea water. It will be in the style of those old 1940s mental hygiene films. If you're interested in helping me out with my informerous video (if you live in Texas and/or go to Trinity then this will increase your chances of participating) then just get a hold of me and I'll see if there's any way you can help.
Elsewhere, I've got some wonderful recreational reading for you. If you're curious about sexual activity in MMOs, then you should read my paper. Expect a truncated version of the paper in American Sexuality Magazine in the near future. I'll make a mention of it whenever it's posted in that publication.
I know none of this is really interesting or humorous; I'm basically just getting all of this stuff out of the way so I can devote more time to writing for Slacker Central and various other projects. Feel free to comment upon this entry if you so desire, and join the forum if you're not a douche bag. That is all.
Jun. 18 - Fear those with admin "privalages"
I know less than half of you, and I like most of you more than you deserve. Anyway, I thought I'd spruce up the main page with a few words from me. Until I have something to say I'm just going to leave it at that.
Jun. 7 - First post!
As you may have noticed, we have a new site.
The appropriate response?

now for the love of God, post something Nick.
